Cal IT2 at UCSD is a full research facility dedicated to the development of new techniques and materials for the advancement of information technology. Facilities for the first floor clean room wing include photolighography at the nano and micro scale in an ISO 5 (class 100) clean room, nano and mircofabrication and a state of the art MOCVD (metal-organic chemical vapor deposition) facility.

This photo shows the inside of one of the ISO 5 clean rooms with safe lites on. The stainless steel duct has drops for future tool hook-ups.

This shows one of the specialty hoods used for manual manipulations and cleaning of sample products and test fixtures.

This photo shows the service chase area with special gas cabinets for toxic gasses used in the various deposition processes. Special alarm and monitoring systems are installed to protect workers within the clean room in case of leakage.
